Government promises to provide summer rest to 60% of pupils
The Government hopes to provide summer rest to 60% of the students studying in pre-higher education institutions in Moldova.
At the meeting held on May 2, the Cabinet approved the decision on the organisation of rest and recovery of children and teenagers during the summer season 2007. According to the decision, it is planned to spend about MDL 75 mln from the local budgets this summer for ensuring the activity of the rest camps.
According to Minister of Education and Youth Victor Tvircun, the fee for the camps increased from MDL 807 to MDL 845 compared to last year. The parents will pay only 10-20% of this sum. About one quarter of the total number of tickets will be offered free of charge to the disadvantaged families.
Out of about 450 thousand children aged 7-16, about 52%, spent their vacation in camps in 2006.
