The Government will immediately come up with clear support measures for the people and, next week, for businesses, stated the spokesman for the executive Daniel Vodă, referring to the National Agency for Energy Regulation’s expected decision to approve higher electricity charges, IPN reports.
"Today, on the right bank of the Nistru, we have electricity and gas thanks to the responsible decisions we have taken together. To make it clear to everyone: in addition to our generation resources, power, heat and gas come to us from Romania, Ukraine and the European market," said the Government’s spokesman.
According to Daniel Vodă, Russia tries to blackmail through the agency of Gazprom, keeps the people in the Transnistrian region in the cold and disseminates disinformation, accusing its own subsidiary of debts that were invalidated by an international audit.
"The NAER will soon announce the adjustments for electricity prices and we, as Prime Minister Dorin Recean requested, will immediately come up with clear support measures for the people and, next week, for businesses. We will discuss with the local authorities the situation in the regions," stated Daniel Vodă.
He noted that, under the conditions of the state of emergency, the authorities have all the levers at hand. The Commission for Emergency Situations constantly collects information about the situation throughout the country and the Government’s interinstitutional cell ensures a coordinated response in the energy sector.
On Friday, at 11:00 a.m., the NAER will convene to examine the requests to increase the electricity charges. According to Premier Energy's request, final consumers whose installations are connected to low-voltage power distribution networks (household consumers) should pay a charge of 5.13 lei/kWh, compared to 2.34 lei/kWh (excluding VAT) at present. Household consumers served by FEE-Nord could pay a charge of 4.53 lei/kWh, up from the current charge of 2.84 lei/kWh.
