Government pledges to meet 80 objectives in human rights area during next four years
The authorities during the next four years intend to continue the policies aimed at joining international instruments, to ensure free access to justice, to strengthen the protection of disadvantaged groups’ rights and to improve the professional, moral and disciplinary responsibilities of the specialists working in the area of human rights.
All these objectives are part of the draft National Action Plan on Human Rights for 2009 – 2012 that was presented at the last meeting of the National Commission for European Integration, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The plan includes 80 objectives and 256 actions, depending on the character of the rights, Minister of Justice Vitalie Parlog said. An important chapter is dedicated to the mechanisms for monitoring how these objectives are met, including concrete performance indicators, he added.
The monitoring process will be coordinated by a national commission that will be set up by the Government and technically supported by the Foreign Assistance and Policy Monitoring Division of the Government’s Apparatus.
The implementation of the plan will be financed from the state budget, from the money allocated by international donors and nongovernmental organizations and from other sources.
The members of the National Commission for European Integration agreed that the plan would be adopted by a Parliament decision. According to Vitalie Parlog, the document was consulted with the civil society – the human rights NGOs – at three plenary meetings and with European experts.
