Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev instructed officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry to prepare the documents needed to transfer agricultural subsidies to the account of each recipient within five days. The state planned to allocate 84 mln lei to farmers to compensate for the damage caused by drought. The money will be used to plough the land and sow the autumn crops. The land owners will receive by about 200 lei on average per hectare. Vasile Tarlev asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry to work quickly and efficiently so that the subsidies reach the farmers as soon as possible and without intermediaries. The agricultural subsides allotted by the state to offset the effect of the drought will total 200 mln lei. A sum of 10 mln lei will go to cover the consumption of electric power and fuel for irrigation and 10 mln lei to support the anti-hail service. Another 40 mln lei will be transferred to the Ministry of Finance to cover the value added tax on sales of agrifood products on the domestic market and 56 mln lei will be used to cover the VAT on phyto-sanitary products and fertilisers.
