Government of Japan buys new furniture for school and kindergarten of Ecaterinovca

The school and kindergarten of Ecaterinovca village of Cimislia district were supplied with new furniture and equipment purchased within a project that was financially supported by the Government of Japan, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Embassy of Japan in Moldova, the financial assistance provided as a grant within the project totaled US$79,100.

The modernization of the education institutions in Ecaterinovca village is the 14th project implemented in Moldova as part of the Grassroots and Human Security Grant Aid Program “Kusanone”. The program finances projects put forward by NGOs and other non-for-profit organizations.

The agreement on the implementation of the Grassroots and Human Security Grant Aid Program “Kusanone” was signed in January 2006. The grant provided to Ecaterinovca forms part of Japan’s Official Development Assistance offered to Moldova.

On September 11, Japanese Ambassador in Chisinau Toichi Sakata will travel to Ecaterinovca to present the catalogue of the new equipment to the village’s mayor.

Until now the Government of Japan provided about US$86.9 million in non-reimbursable assistance to Moldova
