The new Government of Moldova must be elected by public contest. Moldova needs a technocratic, open and transparent Government. Such an opinion was stated by the deputy head of the Social Political Movement of the Roma Ion Duminica in the public debate “Culture of political crisis: views and roles of the extra-parliamentary parties in the process of overcoming and communication with society”, staged by IPN.
The politician said the political culture in Moldovan society is based not on transparent principles and values, but on obscure interests. “The alliance was formed in restaurants, not by an open negotiation process, in concert with civil society and other parties. The Government must be formed according to professional, not political criteria. We entered this crisis because the persons who manage a number of ministries and the lawmakers didn’t do their duty as they don’t know what being a politician means. The Government that is formed in secret, based on interests and without civil society’s participation, will not represent the people’s interests. We never had a technocrat Government. A new Government should be formed now by public contest,” said Ion Duminica.
He also said that the early elections are not a solution to the crisis. Only a Prime Minister elected openly can help improve things.
According to Ion Duminica, the Moldovan voters’ political culture is very low. “That’s why the parties that come to power have a negative behavior. I hope that the political culture will improve in 5 or 10 years and the people in election campaigns will no longer ask the politicians what they will give them for their votes. If this attitude is changed, the quality of power will also change and the politicians will be elected according to professional criteria,” said Ion Duminica.
The debate ”Culture of political crisis: views and roles of the extra-parliamentary parties in the process of overcoming and communication with society” is the 14th of the series of public debates held by IPN News Agency within the project “Development of political culture by public debates”.
