Government meetings remain open for now

The executive’s meetings will not be closed, at least until the start of the Parliament’s autumn session. The legislature decided to postpone the examination of the bill providing that the meetings of the Government will no longer be broadcast live, IPN reports.

The last sitting of the Parliament’s spring-summer session lasted for almost 14 hours. Close to midnight, the MPs were to discuss two bills, including the one on the public character of the executive’s meetings. But it was decided to postpone their examination until the next session.

Liberal MP Valeriu Munteanu was the only one who stated his opinion on this decision. He expressed his satisfaction that society will still be able to see how the decisions are taken in the Government.

Two weeks ago, the Government approved a bill proposed by the Democratic and Liberal-Democratic MPs, which provided that the executive’s meetings will be held behind closed doors, while the journalists will be able to obtain communiqués and statements after the meetings.
