The Cabinet of Ministers met on Thursday, August 23, approving several decisions, among which the one on the National Prize awards. The meeting, which lasted less than half an hour, had not been announced beforehand. Representatives of several press institutions complained that they did not have access into the Government’s building, reports Info-Prim Neo. According to a communique from the Government, the meeting decided the allocation of 1 million lei to the Ministry of Finance, from the Government’s Reserve Fund, for the awarding of the money prizes to the 10 laureates of the 2012 National Prize. The awarding ceremony will take place on August 26. The Government has also approved the Protocol on the amendment and completion of the Agreement on social protection and the guarding of health state of citizens that have undergone radiation due to the Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe on September 9, 1994, signed at Sankt-Petersburg on October 18, 2011. Also today, the Cabinet approved the Agreement between the Government of Moldova and the Government of Georgia on international road traffic, signed at Batumi on July 11, 2012. Another decision was taken concerning the edification of a Memorial Monument in Singerei, dedicated to the soldier fallen during the Afghanistan war. The edification and adjacent territory management costs will be covered by the district budget, sponsorships and donations. The Government allocated 120,000 lei, at the proposal of Deputy Premier Mihai Moldovanu, for the organization of the 2nd edition of the World Eminescologists’ Congress, which will take place in September in Chisinau. The event will gather 70 invitees, including 35 from abroad. The Premier thanked all those involved in the organization of the visit of the German Chancellor to Chisinau, mentioning that he will make an evaluation of the discussions with the Chancellor, and of the agreements reached, and will establish the actions to be taken.
