Government launched an action plan to open “Giurgiulesti” petrol terminal and international port. According to the plan, by the end of September the ministries and other organizations from the field are to close the purchase of plots from Singera and Causeni so that “Azpetrol” would build gas stations. Also the terrain renting papers from Calea Orheiului and Calea Basarabiei Streets have to be closed in order to place the gas stations and petroleum deposits, and also the possibility of renting terrains from the Chisinau municipality. The same plan provides for the establishment of Moldova’s borders with Romania and Ukraine on the Danube River by the end of September, presenting the information regarding the license type required for the construction of the wharf of the Free International Port of „Giurgiulesti”, as well as the establishment of the Firemen State Service within the port. By the end of the current year, of the necessary infrastructure required, it is planned for the repair of the road Chisinau – ”Giurgiulesti” Free International Port, of the road Cahul – „Giurgiulesti” Port and granting the road Chisinau - „Giurgiulesti” Port of main status. The construction of the 35 MW electricity network to „Giurgiulesti” Port and the construction of the 350 square meters gas pipe to the petrol terminal is supposed to be finished by the end of this year. Premier Vasile Tarlev declared in June during a session of the Government that the construction of the Giurgiulesti terminal will be finished by the end of August this year, and the Giurgiulesti Port will be ready by the end of next year. The Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Valeriu Lazar, declared then for the press that the construction status of the terminal are ahead of schedule as result of a solid financing from the EasEur Holding Dutch Investitional Fund, subdivision of the Eastern Capital Investitional Fund, that bought „Azpetrol”, „Azertrans” and „Azpetrol Refinery” from former founders of the „Azpetrol Group” and „Azpetrol Oil Services Group” societies. The new owners have been welcomed by the minister, and as he stated that “the complications from the Azpetrol management have caused financial problems in the terminal project, that was due on May 2006”. Lazar assured that the construction will be done with “an increased speed”.
