Prime Minister Dorin Recean said the state supports the agricultural sector and grain producers. According to him, in 2023 the government invested more than ever in the agricultural sector and provided subsidies and aid to the value of about 2 billion lei, IPN reports.
“Deputy Prime Minister Bolea proposed a new scheme to support grain producers by partially guaranteeing their loans. This year we already allocate an extra 50 million lei for those who suffered from drought in 2023,” Dorin Recean said in his weekend summary.
According to the official, the state will continue to allocate subsidies in the total amount of about 1.7 billion lei. “In addition, we borrowed 1.5 billion lei to provide grants for animal husbandry and fruit growing and to also invest in irrigation systems. We will continue to help grain producers and other farmers,” noted Dorin Recean.
Farmers took to the streets with their tractors, blocking access to the Leușeni customs post. They say they are on the verge of bankruptcy. On Friday, the farmers had a meeting with Prime Minister Dorin Recean, at which they requested that the state identify 400 million lei for subsidies. According to them, this money would help them overcome the difficult situation in which they found themselves. With this financial support, they could buy diesel fuel, seeds and fertilizers. A new meeting with farmers is due to take place at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry on Tuesday.
