Government, IDA negotiating financing for continuing reforms in education
The International Development Association (IDA) will support a new project within the education reform in Moldova, called PREM, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a Government Decision, whereby a group of negotiators for the financing agreement was constituted.
According to Education Minister Maia Sandu, who will head the group of negotiators, the IDA is ready to allocate US$39 million for the implementation of this project.
PREM is designed to continue the reforms initiated in the education sector with the support of the World Bank. The first component envisions improving the quality of education and the student assessment system. The second and third components are aimed at optimizing the education process. Emphasis will be laid on general education and strengthening of the Education Ministry’s capacities for monitoring the reform.
The financing of the project will be based on the results. Performance indicators were set for every component. The money will be freed depending on how these indicators are met. It will be invested fully in the rehabilitation of the district schools’ infrastructure, improvement of the schools’ teaching base and of the teaching-learning-assessment process.
PREM will be implemented during a five-year period.
