This year the government will provide refugees with a monthly allowance of 263 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. The size of this financial aid was calculated in proportion of 10% of the monthly average salary in economy. Under a Government decision, the average salary in economy for 2008 is 2,630 lei. The financial aid bears a temporary character, is reimbursable, is set for a period of time that does not exceed 6 months and is provided monthly from the funds allocated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs by the 2008 State Budget Lay. The Law on the refugee status, adopted in 2002, provides for the right of refugees to welfare in the amount and way established by the Government, if such persons lack means of subsistence. 12 people received refugee allowances in 2007.
