Government endorses cancellation of compensations to MPs and ministers
The Government on Wednesday approved amendments to the Law on special social protection of members of Parliament and Cabinet and to other connected laws, suspending all the non-wage compensations payable to deputies and ministers in a bid to cut budget expenses, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“It is a legal proposal the adoption of which is determined by the economic situation of the country and we are perfectly aware that such initiatives must come first of all from us”, Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanyi told reporters.
Enumerating the compensations proposed for cancellation, Greceanyi mentioned the six average salaries payable to government officials upon reaching the retirement age, redundancy payments and annual leave payments.
Greceanyi expressed hope the motion would be adopted before the 17th parliament dissolves.
