Government distributes resources of 2012 Road Fund
Most of the resources of the 2012 Road Fund will go to maintain national and local roads. Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Anatol Salaru said that 824.8 million lei will be earmarked for this purpose, 596.8 million lei of which for the national roads, while 228 million lei for the local roads. A sum of 1.024,8 billion lei was allocated to the Road Fund from the state budget this year, which is four times higher than last year, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The following road sections will be repaired this year: Anenii Noi – Causeni – Stefan Voda – the border with Ukraine, between the 50th and 59th kilometers, Calarasi – Lozova – Hancesti, between the 28th and 35th kilometers, and Floresti – Vadeni, between the 19th and 23rd kilometers.
By 80 million lei was allocated for ensuring road safety (street marking, traffic signs, metallic protection bars, etc.) and purchasing modern road equipment and machines.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat demanded maintaining the local roads on which buses take children to district schools. He stressed the necessity of completing the reorganization of the 39 road management companies, whose number must be reduced to 12 by the end of the year.
