The Government has issued a negative opinion on the PDM bill proposing that recipients of pensions and other social welfare of up to 2,000 lei a month also receive 600 lei payouts twice a year.
The Government finds the proposal to be “populist”, arguing that its implementation would require extra expenditure of 740 million lei.
The negative opinion also notes that, per legal provisions, no state budget expense can be approved without first identifying a source of financing.
