The Cabinet has declared August 29 and 30, 2016, falling on Monday and Tuesday, days off for public employees, thus connecting Independence Day on  August 27 and Our Language Day on August 31 into a five-day vacation.

To compensate, however, public employees will have to work on two Saturdays, September 24 and October 22.

The decision is in conformity with the Labor Code, which authorizes the Cabinet to manipulate the workweek so that employees can make the best use of holidays.
