The public sector employees during the next six months will work on 12 Saturdays instead of the days declared nonworking during the state of emergency owing to the danger of infection with the novel coronavirus. Also, the working program during the week will be extended. A draft decision to this effect was approved by the Government on June 3, IPN reports.

According to Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu, the salary earners will work for 22 days: 21 days with an eight-hour working program and one day with a seven-hour working program.

Twelve days will be worked on Saturdays, while the working hours equal to ten nonworking days will be worked as of July 1 by increasing the daily working program by 1 hour and reducing the break by 30 minutes.

The public sector employees will work on the Saturdays of June 13 and 27, July 4 and 18, August 1 and 15, September 5 and 19, October 3, 17 and 31 and November 14.

The worked days will be monitored by the employer for each employee, including for those who will have the labor relations suspended in the immediate period, until the nonworking days are fully worked.

The salary earners who worked based on the ordinances made by the Commission for Exceptional Situations will not have to work for those days. These are the employees of health facilities, rescue, emergency and social assistance services, national defense, public order and national security institutions. Those who weren’t in labor relations, had the labor relations suspended or were on sick leave, paternity leave, annual leave or unpaid leave and those who worked from a distance or in the office based on the employer’s decision in the period will also not work.
