The final stages of the national football tournament “The Government Cup” among junior teams will be played on Saturday, October 13, on the Criuleni town stadium. In the final, the team of “Vasile Alecsandri” Lyceum from Balti will take on former champions “Hyperion” Lyceum from Gura Galbenei village, Cimislia district. The small final will see Racovat village’s Lyceum play the “Constantin Negruzzi” Lyceum in Chisinau. The Government Cup is at its 7th edition and is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Education and the Moldovan Football Federation. Every year, thousands of pupils from Moldovan schools compete in this tournament. The previous winners are the Lopnica village Lyceum from Edinet district (2006, 2008), “Minerva” Lyceum from Chisinau (2007), “Mihai Eminescu” Lyceum from Edinet (2009), Congaz village Lyceum from Comrat district (2010) and “Hyperion” Lyceum from Gura Galbenei village, Cimislia district (2011).
