Government condemns incident in security zone

The Government of Moldova condemns the serious incident that happened at the trilateral peacekeeping post No. 9 situated in the security zone and offers its condolences to the relatives and close persons of the killed young man. “The situation must be accurately assessed and steps must be taken to prevent the escalation of the events,” Prime Minister Vlad Filat said in a meeting called on Monday morning, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué issued by the executive, the Premier ordered preparing the documents needed to provide financial assistance from the Government to the family of the deceased young man Vadim Pisari. Vlad Filat requested the Prosecutor General’s Office to engage the best experts in the investigation into this case so as to ensure its correctness and professionalism. He stressed the importance of cooperating with Russian officials in this process. It was decided to organize meetings centering on the given issue with representatives of the Russian Embassy, the Joint Control Commission and other decision makers that can help with the investigation. A Russian military man of the peacekeeping forces serving in the security zone of Moldova’s Transnistrian region shot dead a local driving a car in the morning of January 1. It happened on a bridge over the Nistru River, between Pirta and Vadul lui Voda.
