Prime Minister Dorin Recean, during a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orbán, reiterated that the European integration is Moldova’s goal. The Government further banks on the support of the Hungarian Presidency of the European Council, which will start on July 1, IPN reports.

“I’m glad to know that Hungary supports our efforts to build Europe at home,” he said, being quoted in a statement.

The officials also discussed possibilities to attract new investments to Moldova, strengthen cooperation in priority areas and implement reforms that ensure citizens’ welfare. The head of the Hungarian Government announced that the Chisinau-Budapest flight will be resumed by the end of this March.

Dorin Recean said that Moldova wants to strengthen the cooperation relations with Hungary and expand them in new areas of cooperation, including the economic one. “We welcomed the fact that, despite the international context of the past two years, bilateral trade exceeded €200 million. There is good potential for development in the IT sector, electronics, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and finance,” stated the Moldovan official.

While in Budapest, the head of the Moldovan Government also had a meeting with representatives of a number of Hungarian companies, with whom he discussed the investment opportunities offered by Moldova and the reforms implemented in the financial and legal sectors, the processes of digitization, debureaucratization and modernization of infrastructure.
