Government backed decision to dismiss National Army General Staff chief
The Government approved the draft decree signed by Moldova’s Acting President and National Army Supreme Commander Marian Lupu, whereby the National Army General Staff chief Iurie Dominic was discharged from his post, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Marian Lupu argued such a decision was needed in order to strengthen the military discipline and prevent the violation of the military regulations in the future.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat said he recommended that the executive should approve the draft decree because they cannot break the constitutional norms, but expressed his conviction that Iurie Dominic is a real professional.
“The managers are responsible for what is happening and for what the inferiors do. I ask you to tell Mister Dominic that I thank him for his work,” Vlad Filat said, addressing Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta.
The decree to dismiss Iurie Dominic was signed on September 24. Marian Lupu told the journalists the decision was taken because the lack of discipline in the National Army leads to deaths among soldiers.
