Government approves remote voting bill
Moldovan nationals working and residing abroad will be able to vote by correspondence if a bill to this effect approved today by the Government is enacted, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Special procedures will be introduce to enable voting by correspondence. After casting the vote, the person voting by correspondence will sign a statement declaring that his or her preference wasn't influenced and the secrecy of the vote was not affected. The voter's option will be then sent to the Central Election Commission by mail no later than 15 days prior to election day.
The note accompanying the bill asserts that Parliament should take into consideration that the money sent by the Moldovans working abroad accounts for 24% of the GDP and that adopting the measure will represent an act of equity in relation to them.
