The Government plans to reach in the next 10 years an increase of the annual global volume of the agricultural production of 5-7%. At the same time the share of the processed production is expected to increase by 20%, and the incomes of the field’s employees to reach 85% of the average country salary in 2015. A strategy on this issue was approved on August 16 at the meeting of the Cabinet Council. According to the minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Anatol Gorodenco, for the first time, together with the traditional areas, also other priorities for the next years’ agro-alimentary policy were settled. For example, cultivating walnuts, processing cereal cultures and rape are the new priorities included in the strategy. The implementation Strategy will be performed on three key-areas of the agricultural policy: strengthening agricultural plots, diversifying markets and elaborating efficient mechanisms for spending public money and including improving field’s subvention system. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Alimentary Industry, the average profitability level of the agricultural enterprises constitutes at present 2.7%. During 2000-2005, the agricultural area attracted MDL 1.147 bln investments in fixed capital, which constitutes 5% of the total amount of resources invested in the national economy and covers only 15.4% of the necessary investment percentage. Starting 1998, the year when the intensive reformation and privatization process of the agricultural area began, the cost of long-term assets reduced from MDL 13.4 bln to MDL 3.8 bln – in 2005.
