The national action plan for implementing the Association Agreement with the EU, which was approved by the Government on June 25, covers a period of three years and includes the key cooperation priorities for ensuring the political and economic association with the EU, IPN reports.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iulian Groza said the Ministry will work out an online system for reporting and monitoring the implementation of the measures defined in the plan.
“This document is important for putting to good use the assistance and direct budget support from the EU, especially in creating the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. The relevant financing agreement will be signed soon so that the first tranche will be disbursed by this yearend,” stated Iulian Groza.
Prime Minister Iurie Leanca suggested that after the Association Agreement with the EU is signed, an extensive meeting centering on this subject should be staged. “We will then discuss in detail the plan of action, the priorities and how to prepare for implementation when the accord comes into force on a temporary basis. Today we approve this plan in principle, but we will return to it,” he stated.
Moldova is the only EaP country that worked out such a document by which it initiated the procedure for coordinating and implementing the Association Agreement. The EU welcomed this fact.
