Government approves Igor Munteanu for post of Ambassador to U.S.
The executive director of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul” Igor Munteanu is to be confirmed to the post of Moldova's Ambassador to the U.S. by presidential decree. The Government accepted his candidacy on August 4, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The executive also proposed naming Alexandru Prigorski as Moldova's Ambassador to Bulgaria, Alexei Cracan as Ambassador to Latvia, Mihail Balan as Ambassador to Greece, Alexandru Codreanu as Ambassador to Hungary, and Valeriu Turea as Ambassador to Portugal.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca said all these persons have diplomatic studies. Most of them worked for embassies. All of them know several languages and will not encounter communication problems.
“By naming these persons to posts, we continue to make the diplomatic service more professional. I'm sure that the new ambassadors will work efficiently to achieve our European integration objective and assert Moldova's values at international level,” Iurie Leanca said.
By other decisions, the Government recalled Ambassador Ion Rusu from Greece and Ambassador Eduard Melnic from Latvia
