Government approves Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic
The Government approved the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic signed by Moldovan Premier Vlad Filat and acting Prime Minister of Romania Emil Boc in Bucharest on November 23. The agreement will come into force 30 days after its ratification by the legislatures of the two countries, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Under the agreement, the Moldovans living within 50 km of the Moldovan-Romanian border will travel visa-free within a similar area in Romania. They will need the passport and a special permit that will be issued by the Embassy and Consulate of Romania in Chisinau.
The permits will be valid for two to five years. The convention covers about 1.2 million Moldovans from 651 settlements of 18 districts.
