Government approves bill to ratify Association Agreement

The Cabinet on June 28 approved the bill to ratify the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, IPN reports.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman said the provisions of the accord correspond to the Government’s program. In the preamble, it is envisioned Moldova’ European integration given the country’s European values and its affiliation with Europe.

“Moldova committed itself to gradually adjust the legislation, in accordance with the European standards. The EU and Moldova decided to implement the accord provisionally. We consider it is opportune for Parliament to ratify the Association Agreement with the EU,” said Natalia Gherman.

Moldova signed the Association Agreement with the EU in Brussels on June 27. A minimum of 51 votes are needed for the accord to be ratified.
