Government announces merit scholarships

In the upcoming academic year 2012-2013, 62 students from 15 vocational secondary and higher education institutions will be awarded merit scholarships. The candidates were selected according to a set of criteria. For the economic, real, medical, military and technical specializations, only those with an average mark higher 9 were eligible. For other specializations, the minimum average mark was 9.5. The candidates’ participation in research activities, contests, olympiads, educational and sport activities, was considered as well, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the list approved by the Government, 12 students will get the Republic’s Scholarship of 1200 lei, 15 students will be awarded the President’s Scholarship of 1090 lei in higher education and 845 lei in secondary vocational education. 30 other students will receive the Government’s Scholarship of 1000 lei and 20 Gaudeamus Scholarships of 730 lei will be awarded to students in secondary vocational education. The payment of merit scholarships will be done by each institution within the limits of budgetary allotments approved in this regard.
