Government and Parliament synchronize reform implementation agendas

Members of the Cabinet, the Parliament’s administration and chairpersons of the parliamentary commission came together to synchronize the legislature’s and executive’s agendas as regards the implementation of reforms. Head of Parliament Andrian Candu and Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that such meetings will be held once a month, IPN reports.

In the opening of the meeting, Andrian Candu said that in the current session Parliament is to do the overdue reforms. “It is important to have such meetings regularly. The period of uncertainty and instability was long and it’s time to work now, including by holding such meetings,” he stated.

Pavel Filip said that he welcomes such joint meetings where they can see where the government is in fulfilling the commitments assumed by the Association Agreement. “It is important to set the priorities. I personally and all the members of the Cabinet are aware of the difficult financial and political situation we go through,” he stated.

The meeting was held behind closed doors and the two officials made statements for the press after it. Andrian Candu said that they synchronized the working agendas of the Government and Parliament. “We agreed that such a platform will be staged regularly. We identified the most pressing overdue issues in implementing the Association Agreement and will start work on them in the first sittings of Parliament,” he stated.

Pavel Filip said the meeting was of special importance because the overdue measures from the Association Agreement must be carried out within the 30-day period set by the Government. “Today we determined the reform implementation level so as to move on very swiftly and reach a normal implementation pace,” he stated.

The next joint meeting was set for March 11.
