Government aims to ensure increased transparency in decision-making

The acting Cabinet approved amendments and supplements to the Government decision of February 16, 2010 that regulates the implementation of the Law on Transparency in Decision-Making, IPN reports.

The new provisions included in the regulations concerning the procedures for ensuring transparency in decision-making stipulate the authorities that are obligated to respect the Law on Transparency in Decision-Making, the responsibilities of the State Chancellery of Moldova as the institution that will monitor its implementation and a series of rules regarding the time limit and conditions for performing the given procedures.

The regulations also provide that all the decision-making authorities that can have a social, economic and environmental impact have to ensure access to draft decision and the afferent materials. The period during which the draft decisions can be examined at public consultations by all those who are interested was increased from ‘at least ten workdays’.

The document says that at the request of those interested, the period for presenting recommendations and suggestions on the draft decisions can be extended by the responsible public authority.
