Government abolishes visa regime with four states
The executive approved amendments to the Law of June 8, 2006 on the abolition of the visa regime for the citizens of the EU member states, the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Japan, including four more countries in the visa-free regime - Andorra, Israel, Liechtenstein and Monaco. The visas will be abolished from March 1, 2010, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Iurie Lenca said the abolition of the visa regime with the mentioned countries will have an important political effect on the country. He stressed that Moldova wants to have fruitful bilateral cooperation relations with these countries.
Judging by the number of visas issued to the citizens of these countries during 2008 – 2009, the state budget revenues from the provision of consular services will decrease by about US$300,000. But the advantages in developing the bilateral relations will be much more important. A lot of Moldovans work in Israeli and this country could also facilitate the travel of Moldovans to it in the near future.
