The decision to resign taken by the leadership of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” is a good one, while the Socialists’ refusal to discuss the failure in elections in public shows that they are in a state of shock. Also, some of the representatives of the Party of Action and Solidarity showed that they are overwhelmed by the stunning victory in elections. The issues were developed in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.
Andrei Spînu of PAS said the party fully realizes the responsibility it now bears and it was ready to assume it, as it stated earlier. Parliament will constitute its administrative bodies until the end of July and a Government will be invested at the beginning of August, even if an extraordinary session will be needed for the purpose. People from outside the party, from civil society, from other parties will be invited to work in the team. The secretaries of state, agency heads who didn’t fulfill their duties will be replaced. A call to become involved was already made to the diaspora.
Denis Ulanov of the Shor Party said they are offended by the labeling “organized criminal group” [as Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo classed this party – e.n.], noting this also affects the about 100,000 people who voted for them. But the expected political stability will lead to clarity also in the bank fraud case. “PAS is in a delicate situation as some of its members know very well what happened in 2014, being active participants of particular processes,” said the MP, who not only once made reference to his position of advocate of the actions of fugitive Ilan Shor. He denied experts’ opinions that Shor’s ambulant stores are a way of corrupting needy people from villages, which provided discounts for political reasons, including on election day.
In another development, Denis Ulanov said he is against the lustration law that can annihilate the consequences of the staff policy pursued by the regime of Vlad Plahotniuc.
Dinu Plângău of PPPDA noted the PAS’ appeal to the diaspora to send CVs so as to form an efficient executive is sterile. The salaries of beginner functionaries are small compared with the salaries of millions of lei of directors of agencies, state-run enterprises even if some of the business entities report losses, while the agencies do not even execute court decisions. To remedy the situation, a number of laws should be amended. The presumption of guilt of the functionary for which PAS is ready to amend the Constitution is acceptable as a political message, but requires great aptitude and juridical precision.
In reply, Andrei Spînu said they aim to amend Article 46 of the Constitution so as to enable to confiscate the property gained illegally by public servants. It is yet highly improbable that the PAS MPs will be joined by other MPs in their effort to change the main law of the country.
