Godea says Puppeteer is Filat's fabrication

The so-called 'Puppeteer', who is so often mentioned by Lib-Dem leader Vlad Filat, is “nothing but a trick aimed at intimidating voters”, stated MP Mihai Godea at a press conference on Wednesday. Godea, a former Lib-Dem member himself, said Filat didn't present the long-promised evidence about the Puppeteer simply because there was no evidence to produce, as it was Filat's fabrication. “Throughout the election campaign, Mr. Filat was speaking about this 'Puppeteer' who was allegedly acting behind the scenes. Every time he was asked to name names or produce evidence, he invoked the inappropriateness of the moment. After launching accusations and claiming possessing 'concrete evidence', Mr. Filat avoids to talk. At first, he said he didn't want to disturb the electoral processes, now he doesn't want to disturb the post-election processes. If he really wanted to avoid disturbing the electoral processes, he wouldn't have launched such fabrications in the middle of the campaign”, stated Mihai Godea. The parliamentarian added that the 'Puppeteer' played the role of a bogeyman in the recent campaign, and this bogeyman was used to scare undecided voters as well as against any politician within or outside of the ruling Alliance who would fail to follow Filat's interests. “Most ironically is that this thing was also used against Lib-Dem members and former members”, said Mihai Godea. Further, Godea praised the Eurointegration Alliance for rallying and partnering up on the last hundred meters ahead of the run-offs. However, he doesn't rule out renewed 'vanity frictions' within the Alliance. “In this respect, let me call on the Alliance leaders to learn the lessons from this battle, the local elections, to awake to reality and get down to work, because there is no other option for Moldova than preserving a democratic government”. In another development, Godea criticized the Communists' intention to boycott parliamentary sessions over the outcome of the local elections as blackmail. “Failure to attend in Parliament is, first of all, an offense to the Communist electorate who voted for these deputies to represent them in the national legislative body”, said Mihai Godea, advising the PCRM to respect the choice of the voters. “After all, the big losers of these elections are those who used pressure and intimidation as electoral techniques. Why? Because the citizens of this nation don't want to be intimidated any longer”. Mihai Godea defected Filat's party in the middle of the election campaign to become an independent candidate in Chisinau's mayoral race. Filat claimed then that behind the move was a certain Puppeteer, an influential man who allegedly pulled many strings in the Moldovan political life, and whose name he promised to reveal after the local elections.
