Godea on April 2009 revelations: There must have been something fishy
The allegations that the Liberals, Liberal-Democrats and the Moldovan Noastra Alliance were behind the April 2009 violence “dubiously coincided” with the re-launch of Communist Igor Dodon's I Love Moldova Campaign, thinks independent MP Mihai Godea, a Liberal-Democrat at that time.
“Dodon wanted to re-launch his campaign against a positive background, so he continues to throw stones at political rivals. If Mr. (Fiodor) Ghelici really has evidence on the 2009 protests, he should go to the prosecutors. I am very interested in finding out the truth about April 7, but I don't think this kind of actions can contribute to it.
“However, I think there must have been something fishy about it, considering how the first-line protesters unleashed their attack”, Mihai Godea told a news conference on Friday.
On Thursday, a young man who presented himself as the leader of an extremist group, told reporters that the Liberal Party, the Liberal-Democratic Party and the no longer existing Moldova Noastra Alliance recruited rioters to foment violence in April 2009 in an attempt to overthrow the Communist government. The young man was brought before reporters by a nongovernmental organization called “Moldova Mea”, headed by Fiodor Ghelici.
