People’s artist, opera singer Valentina Savitskaya said that Maria Biesu was one of her best friends, a good mother and a great patriot. According to her, Maria Biesu this year also prepared for the 20th Festival “Maria Biesu Invites” and for her birthday in August. Composer and musicologist Constantin Rusnac said that Maria Biesu was sent by God. “Maria came on Earth from heaven. God gave us her for consolation. She taught us how to love and we promise her that we will learn to love,” he stated. The chairman of the Writers’ Union Arcadie Suceveanu said that Maria Biesu was a great value and the valuable people should be loved and appreciated throughout life. He also said that the great writers and singers had low pensions and needed assistance in difficult moments. Maria Biesu was born on August 3, 1935 in Volintiri village, Stefan-Voda district. She dedicated all her life to the stage and universal music, achieved remarkable results in the country and abroad and was recognized as one of the greatest opera singers of the universal culture. Throughout her life, Maria Biesu sang the main arias of the operas of the National Opera House repertoire.
