Those who want to have their blood glucose tested can do it at a special point that will be put up in the hall of the Chisinau City Hall on November 14. This will start work at 9am. Several glucose testing points will be set up in Chisinau on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, IPN reports.
On November 14, such points will be available in the halls of the district head’s offices, consultative diagnosis centers and family doctors centers of the municipal health facilities and also in some drugstores.
According to the head of the Chisinau Public Health Center Luminita Suveica, the normal blood sugar level is 3.3-5.5 mmol/l. To keep the level of sugar within recommended limits, the people should walk more and should do other physical activities. The people should lead a healthy lifestyle with balanced eating, without smoking and without abusing alcohol. The persons who do not suffer from diabetes should have a blood glucose test at least once a year.
In Moldova, about 84,000 people suffer from diabetes. In the municipality of Chisinau, there were over 23,400 diabetics, including children.
