The Glodeni District Hospital is in need of doctors. The institution’s director Nicolae Guriev has told IPN that the hospital has 52 doctors, 17 of whom are of retirement age. They need 26 more doctors.
According to Nicolae Guriev, the young specialists do not want to work in districts because the opportunities and salaries in towns are greater. Nobody wants to work for 2,000 lei a month, which is the salary of a beginner. Given the shortage of medical staff in the Glodeni Hospital, the doctors have to work for 24 hours for a salary and a half or even for two salaries. “It is very hard. The doctors are overtired, but we are doing our utmost for the patients to be cured,” said the director.
Nicolae Guriev also said that in order to motivate the young specialists, the Glodeni District Council intends to take out a loan for constructing an apartment building for young doctors. As regards the equipment of the institution, the Ministry of Health promised to provide 11 pieces of radiological apparatus to a number of national hospitals, including the one in Glodeni, by the end of this year.
