Global Compact Moldova holds clean-up in Rose Valley Park
Some 200 people, members of the Global Compact Network in Moldova, gathered today, April 24, in the Rose Valley /Valea Trandafirilor/ Park in Chisinau’s Botanica district to engage in a clean-up event held as part of the fourth national campaign “Green Day – Because We Care”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In total some 550 members of the Network joined the clean-up, beautification and tree-planting efforts in public areas in the cities of Chisinau, Balti and Cahul.
Selena Stejaru, UNDP Moldova/Global Compact project assistant, says the event is held on a voluntary basis. “In Chisinau, we chose the Rose Valley Park because it is an area that could really use some clean-up. I am very pleased by the high spirits of the participants. We wish to do a good and useful thing, and it seems we are successful at it”, said Selina Stejaru.
In Chisinau, the members of the Global Compact Network are assisted by municipal green-spaces personnel.
In the municipality of Balti, the clean-up works are taking place around the Lake of Fishermen and Hunters /Pescarilor si Vanatorilor/, and in Cahul around the Spirin neighborhood.
The “Green Day – Because We Care” Initiative is in line with the conception and practices of Corporate Social Responsibility promoted and implemented by the Global Compact Network member-companies in Moldova. Such events are held twice a year, in April and November.
