Giurgiulesti freight terminal to be opened in a month
The freight terminal of the Giurgiulesti Free International Port will be put into operation in May. The construction works are close to completion, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Ministry of Economy.
The Ministry says the services provided by the port last year totaled 95.7 million lei, up 3.4 times compared with a year before.
Wholesale trade amounted to 1.2 billion lei in current prices. The oil products accounted for 55% of the trade, while the grains – for 45%.
As many as 58,800 tonnes of oil products were imported through the port, up 1.5 times compared with 2009. About 409,200 tonnes of grain were exported and imported through the grain terminal.
Five new companies became residents of the Giurgiulesti Free International Port in 2010. A number of 26 companies now work on the territory of the port. The resident companies paid different taxes to the value of 109.4 million lei.
A sum of US$46.6 million has been invested in the port since its opening.
