Girls younger than 14 from both banks of the Nistru River are taking part in a championship within the project “Football - Ambassador of Peace”. The event was organized by the British Embassy, the Moldovan Football Federation and the NGO “Spirit of Soccer”, IPN reports.

According to the press service of the British Embassy, the matches are played at the Moldovan Football Federation’s sports ground in Vadul lui Voda and at the sport complex Sheriff in Tiraspol on September 6-7.

The goal of the project is to bring closer the sportspersons from the two banks of the Nistru, to inform the population about the children’s rights and to promote gender equality.

It should be noted that the national football squads of Moldova and England are meeting at the Wembley Stadium in London this evening. The encounter forms part of the 2014 World Championship qualifiers.
