Girl found in park to stay in hospital till Monday
The 3-year-old girl found in Chisinau's central park last Wednesday will stay in the hospital till July 28 for more investigations.
The head of the pediatrics section of V. Ignatenco hospital, Vera Procoli, has told Info-Prim Neo the girl is active, eats well, is in good mood and started to talk.
If the doctors don't find she has diseases needing treatment, the girl will be handed over to the Chisinau Children Protection Direction.
Asked by Info-Prim Neo, Olesea Moraru, a social assistant with the Direction, has said the girl will be placed in the Municipal Child House, where they will identify her identity, including by ads in media. If the calls are ignored, a court will decide her name and surname, after her age will be established.
In case her parents are found, they will have to prove she is their child. A Gypsy woman tried to take the girl from hospital on Thursday, but failed to prove she was her mother. The medics suppose the minor was kidnapped to be made to beg, as the police are to establish whether she is not wanted, said the social assistant.
If in six months the girl gets to be sought by no relative, she will get the status of “a child left without parental care” and will be set for national adoption. If not adopted, she will be sent to an orphanage or will be handed over to professional parental assistants.
In case her parents are found, the social assistants will assess their family situation.
Olesea Moraru says such cases are not frequent in Chisinau. As a rule, big children are found who know to say who they are, or newborns.
In 2007, 2 newborns were found in Chisinau: one in a rubbish cart, the other in a bag hung by a tree.
