The flight by helicopter made by Acting President Mihai Ghimpu to the flood-hit areas cost the budget over 120,000 lei, Communist MP Igor Dodon said in a news conference on July 12, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. An hour by helicopter costs about US$2,500, while the trip to Criva and back lasts for at least four hours, Igor Dodon said. “The US$10,000 was spent on Mister Ghimpu's promenade to northern Moldova, where he donated 1,000 lei. Wasn't it better if that money was given to flood victims?” the MP asked. Last week, Mihai Ghimpu paid a fact-finding visit to the flood-stricken areas by helicopter.
