Ghimpu wants ruling alliance to have joint presidential candidate

Moldova's acting president Mihai Ghimpu suggested that in the eventuality of presidential elections the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) should field a common candidate, and namely Democrat leader Marian Lupu, as previously agreed, Info-Prim Neo reports. Speaking at a talk-show on Publika TV, Mihai Ghimpu said: “We should recall the understandings that we had in the beginning, to acknowledge that without Lupu there wouldn't be any Alliance, there wouldn't be a president Ghimpu or a prime minister Filat”. At the same time, Mihai Ghimpu said his Liberal Party would field its own candidate if the presidential elections were held concomitantly with the parliamentary elections, but avoided to tell the name of the potential Liberal candidate.
