The post of Speaker of Parliament earned Mihai Ghimpu 114,596 lei in 2009, as showed in his tax return, which was published on the Parliament's website, Info-Prim Neo reports. Apart from his salary, Mihai Ghimpu earned 500,000 lei from his one-third stake in the company “Eurosim SRL”. Ghimpu's return also shows his family owns a two-roomed, 61 sqm apartment on Kogalniceanu Street in Chisinau, valued at 875,000 lei; and a Mercedes C-180, valued at 155,000 lei. Speaker Mihai Ghimpu didn't receive any salary for concurrently being Moldova's acting president.
