Ghimpu and Saakashvili set cooperation priorities
Moldova and Georgia will strengthen the bilateral cooperation in information technology, socioeconomic, cultural and other areas by working out and implementing joint projects involving specialists from both states and representatives of international organizations, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the presidential press service.
Such an agreement was reached by the Presidents of the two countries, Mihai Ghimpu and Mikhail Saakashvili, in Batumi. The Moldovan acting head of state is paying a working visit to Georgia during August 15-17.
“We can easier achieve the objectives to modernize the society if we learn from each others’ experience. Georgia’s example shows that all the preconditions for the multidimensional development of the national economy and other areas that directly influence the welfare of the people can be created in a free and democratic society,” Mihai Ghimpu said in Batumi.
Mikhail Saakashvili welcomed the reforms implemented in Moldova by the Alliance for European Integration, expressing his confidence that they will enable to reduce poverty and make progress on the path to European integration. “Georgia can learn from Moldova’s experience of modernizing the state. Therefore, the establishment of mutually advantageous relations will allow us to more efficiently achieve Georgia’s related objectives,” he said.
Mihai Ghimpu thanked his Georgian counterpart for the support offered to Moldova in flood cleanup.
Mihai Ghimpu and Mikhail Saakashvili visited the summer camp in Anaklia, where over 120 Moldovan children from flood-stricken families are resting. The Georgian authorities covered all the costs of the Moldovan children’s stay there.
