The leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said that from his experience as Speaker of Parliament and acting President, he knows that the problems like the expulsion of the Turkish teachers are not solved by avoiding the senior state administration. “I can swear, if you don’t believe me,” he stated in the opening of the September 27 sitting of Parliament in connection with the request to form a commission of inquiry into this case, IPN reports.
“Each morning, and you know very well, the Intelligence Service, the Ministry of the Interior and the law enforcement agencies furnish the President with information about the situation during the past 24 hours. This is what I meant. And you knew and the president of the Socialists (President Igor Dodon, e.n.) knew and the Prime Minister also knew and you should not pretend not to have known. That’s why if they did it without informing you and broke the law, let’s, figuratively, cut the head of the one who gave the order and did this, like of a pumpkin,” stated Mihai Ghimpu.
The politician noted that the Lyceum “Orizont” has worked for many years in Moldova. The Liberal Party was also in power and heard nothing suspicious. “It is a deal struck by the our non-president and your president with President Erdoğan. That’s why if you are not afraid and it is legal, let’s form this commission of inquiry,” requested Mihai Ghimpu.
The Communist leader Vladimir Voronin, who held the post of President during 2001-2009, supported the proposal to constitute a commission of inquiry. “This lyceum have worked in Moldova for about 30 years and no such problems were witnessed. Evil interests now appeared as some need to have the Presidential Building repaired as they were unable to do this during ten years. Others need something else to solve with the Turks and we will exchange Moldova’s position for our temporary interests,” noted the politician.
MP Vlad Batrîncea said the Socialists are for creating the commission. He noted that the President does not control the SIS and could not influence the given situation.
When being put to the vote, the proposal to set up a commission of inquiry was short of votes for being included in the agenda.
