The Chisinau councilors on May 30 decided to confer the title of Citizen of Honor of Chisinau municipality on five personalities, including people’s artist Sofia Rotaru, humorist Gheorghe Urschi, and academician Petru Soltan. Posthumously the title was given to the author of the anthem, of Chisinau Gheorghe Vod and Missis Luitgard Schmitt, who is known for her charity acts and donations of medicines for persons suffering from cancer, IPN reports.

The Citizens of Honor of Chisinau municipality enjoy a number or concessions such as a 50% reduction in the payments for public utilities, free trips by public transport and free access to the cultural activities organized by the municipality.

The municipality of Chisinau has 45 citizens of honor.
