The “Gheorghe Paladi” Hospital in Chisinau has received modern medical equipment needed for providing high-quality care to mothers-to-be and newborns. The equipment, totaling over $319,000, was purchased by the UN Population Fund with the financial support of the United States Government.
Two operating rooms and a delivery room were fully equipped, and operating tables, delivery tables, operating lamps, anesthesia equipment, resuscitation tables for the neonatal intensive care units and gynecology units were provided. The donation also included medical equipment and furniture for patient rooms.
U.S. Ambassador Kent D. Logsdon stated that this project represents the commitments of the United States and its partner, the UN Population Fund, to support Moldova’s efforts to increase the quality of medical care, which must be accessible to all citizens.
More than 5,700 births are recorded annually in the maternity department of the Gheorghe Paladi Hospital. Mothers-to-be with serious pathologies from all parts of the country are cared for here.
