Gheorghe Asachi Street in Chisinau to be repaired integrally. The works are planned to take place from June 19 to 22, Info-Prim Neo reports. Very many requests from citizens have been received to repair this street especially in the portion between Dokuceaev and Pan Halippa streets, the chief of the Public Transport and Roads Direction Veaceslav Tarna told the City Hall sitting on Monday morning. According to him, the repair works will cover 9,300 square meters, including sidewalks and place parking cars. In connection with this, the traffic will be stopped on this street from Thursday, June 19 June to Sunday, 22 June. Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has said “unfortunately this is the only street which can be repaired integrally this year from budgetary sources”. Over 80 of Chisinau's roads are in a deplorable state and need capital reparations. The opinion belongs to the authors of a research on the issue carried out by experts from (IDIS) “Viitorul” NGOs. The amount allocated to repair and maintain the roads in 2008 is 45 million lei, about 5.5 times less than needed.
