The Superior Council of Magistracy selected judge Ghenadie Pavliuc as the winner of the contest to fill the vacant post of vice president of the Chisinau Court. The candidate is to be confirmed to post or rejected by the Head of State.

A contest to fill the post of president of the Chisinau Court was to be held the same day, January 31. Contacted by IPN, Carolina Mangar, press officer of the Superior Council of Magistracy, said the contest was put off at the request of the only candidate Radu Turcanu.

The Council members also chose a candidate for judge of the Comrat Appeals Court. This is Ludmila Caraianu. If she is accepted by the President of Moldova, Ludmila Caraianu will hold this post until she reaches retirement.

The contest to select a candidate for judge of the Supreme Court of Justice will be rerun as the only applicant Viorica Puica didn’t garner the necessary number of votes.
